Alan M. Chase

Founder/Lead Advisor

Alan has more than 33 years of experience helping clients master the task of solving life’s financial puzzle; during the past 15 years, this work has been focused on comprehensive financial planning. With a unique ability to break down the complex in a way that makes financial options clear, Alan’s simple, intimate approach helps his clients develop an in-depth understanding of financial matters. He has a strong sense of loyalty to those he serves, and his relationships with clients bring him great satisfaction. He is considered by many to be “part of the family”—a privileged designation he does not take lightly.

Alan entered the financial services industry in 1978 at the sales end of the business. Before striking out on his own in the late '90s, he worked in management as a recruiter and a trainer. He is a Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®) and a Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®) and he holds FINRA Series 7 (General Securities Representative)and NASAA Series 63 (Uniform Securities Agent State Law Registration) industry registrations. He is licensed in life and health insurance and became an Investment Adviser Representative with Commonwealth Financial Network® in 1999. Alan founded Ingenuity Financial Services in 2001 and currently serves as its president.

Originally from Michigan, Alan “got to Texas as quick as he could” and has spent the past 39 years reveling in warmer weather. He and his wife, April, have been married for most of those 39 years; they have three children and two grandchildren. When he isn’t working, you can find Alan in the garden walking his two faithful “office dachshunds." He is active in his church, most recently serving as board president, and he occasionally assists April with projects around their home (which she designed and built). Alan sometimes thinks that, if he weren't a financial planner, he might be a part-time comedian—but April reminds him he would have to be funny first!

Ian Chase

Advisor

Alan's son, Ian, attended Texas State University where he graduated with a dual major in history and political science. He spent a session at the Texas State Capitol working for the Senate and then served on the staff of the Segura Law Firm in Austin, Texas.

Ian joined Ingenuity Financial Services in May 2011 as Alan's administrative assistant. He began to familiarize himself with our business while also sitting for the necessary examinations that would allow him to become appropriately registered in the financial industry. He currently holds FINRA Series 7 (General Securities Representative) and NASAA Series 66 (Uniform Combined Securities Agent State Law Registration) industry registrations. He is licensed in life and health insurance and became an Investment Advisor Representative with Commonwealth Financial Network® in 2013. As an advisor, Ian strives to help clients identify their financial circumstances and goals, working closely with them to achieve their highest success.

In April 2015 Ian was awarded the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER certification. This achievement required passing a comprehensive exam upon completion of specialized courses in the following areas of planning: (1) personal financial; (2) risk management and insurance; (3) investment; (4) income tax; (5) retirement; (6) estate planning; and (7) financial plan construction. The national CFP board approximates that only 20 percent of advisors obtain the CFP® certification.  We are excited for Ian's success and we look forward to making use of his developing expertise in ways that enhance our ability to serve the needs of our clients.

In his private time, Ian likes to camp and enjoy the outdoors. He is also an exercise enthusiast and likens this discipline to success with money management.  While one trip to the gym, one five-mile run, or one IRA contribution is not likely to make a noticeable difference in your outcome, consistently setting goals and working toward them will get you where you want to be down the road—both with fitness and financial security!
